Kettle Corn Sweet Moments

Sometimes, Sweet Moments are kettle corn.

A simple, fast, cheap,  and (of course) sweet snack to make for any season. It goes well with other Sweet Moments, like crocheting a quick sweater for a baby, a good book, or watching a good show (hey, if the show is not good- at least you’re left with some good sugary moments!).

(Please excuse the photo- it’s so easy to forget about taking a picture instead of  just digging in!)

What you need:

2/3 cup Popcorn Kernels

2/3 cup Sugar

2 tablespoons oil

A dash of salt (optional)

A big pot with a lid

How to:

Put one popcorn kernel in a big pot. Turn the stove to medium heat. When the kernel pops, it’s time to add the rest of the ingredients to the pot.

Cover the pot and shake (very) often to prevent the sugar from burning.

The popcorn is done when the popping stops for 4-5 seconds. Remove from the stove, and pour into a bowl. At this point, while the popcorn is very hot, you can add extra ingredients, and mix well with a spoon to distribute evenly.

Ideas for Added ingredients: chocolate chips, chopped nuts, cranberries, chopped dried fruit, 1-2 tablespoons cinnamon (or to taste), 1/4  teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or to taste).

BTW- if there’s anything left the next day, it’ll be yummy in a bowl of milk.
