It’s dear hubby’s birthday today!
Off to work he went with a classic, old-fashioned pound cake. A real pound cake. It’s a tradition by now- pound cake birthday cake.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to take a picture this morning, but I have some from another year.
I don’t remember what I put on top. Maybe a simple icing made of powdered sugar and a bit of water or milk.
Old-Fashioned Pound Cake Recipe
Pre-heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cream together 1 pound of butter with 1 pound of sugar (about 2 cups).
Add 1 pound of eggs (about 8-10, depending on size), one by one and mix well after each addition.
Add 2 teaspoons real vanilla extract.
Add gradually 1 pound flour (about 3.25 cups), and mix well.
Pour into a well greased and flour bundt cake pan, and bake for 45-50 minutes. Check with a toothpick for doneness.
